Some media mentions and coverage on Beauty Meets the Bizarre, a group exhibit I recently curated and exhibited in, together with Michael Kennedy.
Plus, a wee feature on me on this wicked site from the US, Sweet Station:
Also, I’m really psyched to announce I reached my fundraising goal for the Little Lotus project, and then some. Through a couple of fundraising events, some generous people who donated online, the help of my friend Giapo and the amazing We’ar Yoga Clothing brand, I was able to raise $3,212. In a couple of days I’m about to fly out to the Thai/Burma border and paint with my good friends from around the world and make some children’s day. I’m really looking forward to painting walls and doing art projects with the kids. Visual artists include Angry Woebots, Peap Tarr, Ritzy Periwinkle, J*RYU, Sheryo. NZ crew includes Cleo Barnett, Leon Dalton and project organiser Pat Shepherd. Check out the full artist line-up, 12 in total, here.
Here are the limited edition prints I gave as presents to everyone who donated.

It still boggles my mind how I’m about to do this, I can’t wait to give back, travel, do art, learn heaps and get inspired and be surrounded by incredible people. And incredibly thankful to the many people backed me up and supported me on this. I’ll see you in Thailand in 2 days!
I’m about to embark on this journey to help refugee children and paint w/ my good friends from around the world. Little Lotus Project 2011
You can donate for my Little Lotus Project fundraising efforts here. Any little bit helps! And anyone who donates $25 or more I will send you a limited edition print of my painting, “The Spectre’s Cessation” as a gift. My highest donor will also receive an original painting by me.

Second time around organising a group exhibition, first time curating, and I’m truly looking forward to seeing what’ll come out of this.
Beauty Meets the Bizarre is an exhibit showcasing some of the more exciting emerging artists to watch out for coming from Auckland down to Wellington. 15 artists explore contrasting themes, from light and dark, to the ethereal and the macabre, to the delicate and disgusting. The diverse range of styles featured on this show are united by a single aesthetic: wood. Beautiful wooden panels will dot the Depot’s main gallery, created by artists who are now making a significant mark in their local scene. Come with and check the view, but beware of something sinister just lurking around the corner.

Hope to see you then.

Te Karanga Gallery presents Adieu False Heart, a solo exhibition by Meghan Geliza.
In her first ever solo exhibition, Meghan’s latest large-scale paintings on wood explore the converging human triumphs and catastrophes that come with eros. Using a cacophony of colours, rigid but seemingly alive statues, and animal symbolism, Meghan weaves elaborate painted tapestries that comment on dual concepts such as union-dissolution, stability-change, and constraint-transcendence. Different fantastical lakes are used as the setting, conveying the tone for each visual narrative.
Opening night includes a special Burlesque performance by the incredible Miss Eve Gordon of The Dust Palace.

I recently got featured by the lovely Rhonnie Snelgar on her website, Passion & Distraction. Read the full interview here, where we talked about art, music and my upcoming gallery exhibit.
I also got recently featured at a few more other websites, including Gallery 36. Visit the Press section for other articles.
